About Me

My photo
Just putting my point of view out there for everyone to learn about me and love me. About me I'm 30-something, living in Raleigh with friends. Just wanted a blog not about Weddings, Babies and Pets, about the other stuff in life, like Reality TV! Hope you enjoy.

Getting Old, doesn't mean getting boring

So I turned 30 last week and thought it would be some sort of milestone to make me more adult like.  I thought if I'm 30 I need to go to grown up bars and act like a grown up because I'm old and more mature....NOT.  It just means you still get to have crazy fun and in some sort of way feel like your getting away with something.  Last night I went to watch midget wrestling, it was pretty cool.  Now I guess some people have some weird fetish with this, but I don't really get it.  It was a little disturbing to watch and not really that entertaining, so I would save your money and rent a movie if you want to see something like that.  But it is fun to say you have been there done that.  It kinda reminding me of playing with my barbie dolls when I was little.  Although there was a great annoucer, they did all have great stage names and cute little outfits.  A little bit better that real Wrastling I guess.  At WWE events they don't have the announcers where you can hear them like on TV.  Yeah that is right I have been to a WWE event, but back then it was WWF.  I wore my little tight pants and tube top and made a sign for my fav wrasler TEST, my sign read PUT ME TO THE TEST!!!  aaaaahhhhh love.  Another thing I can say been there done that.

But the point was just because I'm 30 doesn't mean I still can't do silly things and go silly places!  That was the best part to do something different and get out there and prove I'm not old and boring.
So get crazy every once in a while people, get out there and do something new!  And a juicy steak at Sullivans and 3 knockout martini's are a little helpful too :)

Farewell to my 20"s

How do I begin to sum up the last 29 years... FUN!  Fun is the best way to describe my last 29 years.  Tomorrow I'll turn the big 3-0, leave those roaring 20's behind and officially become of age to be a called a COUGAR...haha.  I've had some great times over the years with the best friends and family a girl could ask for.  I only hope the next 30 years are the best.
My favorite memories as a child were going to the beach with my family.  Boy did I love summer time, ocean waves, sand in your crotch and tan lines.  I loved going out fishing on my granddad's old blue boat, cruising the sound off Shackelford banks :0)
As I got a little older and moved into middle school, boy did I love sports and boy did I love BOYS!!!  I loved softball, loved my team, loved traveling to new places and meeting new people and WINNING!!!  I wish I knew my over all softball record??  But we were pretty good.... GO THUNDER!!  We had some great times on trips with school, with our travel team and great stories that we will always remember.  And let me tell you, you were not a cool boy unless Holden had a crush on you...that is right I crushed on every boy at my school and North Johnson, South Johnston and Clayton.  I wrote notes about boys, made up songs, made up nicknames, doodled on my notebook, and surprisingly without actually studying boys, made pretty good grades.
Then high school came a long, met lots of new friends from new schools while still hanging out with old friends and guess what MORE BOYS!!!   High school was bittersweet there were a lots of good fun times and loss of good friends as well.  The biggest statement from high school is how did I never get arrested?? I was a pretty good kid, but was always in the wrong place and still managed to survive and have a criminal free record.
College...WOW.  Some of the greatest times, I moved to my FAV place WILMINGTON....and here continues my love for the beach.  I managed to pass most of my classes, take summer school every summer work a full time job and graduate in 4 years.  Oh those long days at Vic's popcorn, 2nd greatest college job ever.  First greatest JUNGLE RAPIDS...oh yeah the jungle, working at the water park every summer was awesome, you got to tan while working, sometimes sleep, discount on junk food, ride go carts and play video games during your break.  The jungle was family, we worked together, went out together and even lived together.  Then the cliche of meeting your best friends for the rest of your life happened to me.  I joined a sorority and met the greatest girls.  And WOW have we shared some times together, JERSEY SHORE got nuttin' on us.  We've shared big and small moments, happy and sad times, great and not so great times and I loved every minute of it and will love hanging out with these girls for the rest of my life.
After college, or my 20's.  Pretty awesome times I've done some pretty cool things these last couple of years and thanks to FACEBOOK me and all my friends can relive all of those moments.  Met some more life long friends, family expanded in several ways now have tons of new cousins, step siblings, aunts, new baby cousins and it just keeps growing and is awesome.

So in the words of Tim McGraw..... here's to my next thirty years!

I think I'll take a moment to celebrate my age
The ending of an era and the turning of a page
Now it's time to focus on where I go from here
Lord have Mercy on my next thirty years

Christmas Hair

Wow it has been almost 3 weeks.  Time flies when you are having fun and life is good and CHRISTMAS was here.  So I'm pretty much a bah-humbug kinda person.  Not really into the whole Christmas thing because Christmas means Winter and Winter means COLD and I HATE COLD!  Well this year the week before Christmas it got up to almost 70 degrees and I loved it.  I enjoyed this Christmas, I tried to think about the small things, enjoy the time with family although it was short, enjoy party time with my friends although it was short.  Did have an awesome engagement party on Dec 23rd with lots of friends and good to see them over Christmas break.  Not really much of a break anymore, more like a Christmas long weekend.  Oh how I miss the times when you get like 3 weeks after exams and before you had to be back at school/college... those were the days.
I hate to say my best Christmas story is a not so nice one, but it ends up good and could only happen to our loud talking family.  So I have a sister that has a new hairstyle when she came home for Christmas, was a little bit of a shocker.  She had long blonde flowing curls the last time I saw her, now long straight black with straight across bangs.... shocker.  She can wear any hair style and still look good, but it was just the shock of change.  Well it started with my mom saying it wasn't her most flattering look, can always count on mom for honesty.  Then we take a car ride on Christmas eve to my dad's and on the 20 minute ride Jane I piss Julia off so much that she refuses to speak to us....Great, just great on Christmas....we know if our dad gets wind of this it's going to be bad.  So we put on our happy faces and gather round for some present opening.  Well Julia get these Glitter "Tranny" shoes, she said those my words not sure exactly, but they were out there.  She puts them on and says she is wearing them to church for xmas eve service... and I simply respond with "well no one will notice your hair".  Ohhhh wrong time for that, it erupts again the upset-ness (new word), yelling, more yelling by my dad telling and us to be quiet and we are so mean.... yeah telling a Royall girl to be quiet it like saying please continue to OVER TALK EVERYONE ELSE UNTIL OUR POINT IS PROVED... yep and that is what happened between my dad and sister for a few moments, quite entertaining.  So we settle down have dinner get things back on track apoligies, accepted apoligies and try to remember the xmas S-P-I-R-I-T!
So we go to church and sit with our aunt, uncle and great aunt who doesn't hear very well and speaks loudly as her normal voice.  Oh no she's spotted it, the hair question is about to come out of her mouth and she turns to Julia and says "what did you do to your hair" (where everyone can hear), no real response, so she then turns to me and says "it's hideous, does everyone else like it but me" fighting back laughter I lie and say "yes", Julz leans over and says "NO, and that is not very CHRIST like of you to say"....oh man really holding back the laughter.  Then out of all things, when we sing silent night at the end and all light our candles, I got the fake kiddie light candle and it didn't even work, guess that is what I get for being mean to my sister.

But all love has been restored, hair color has not been restored, but I'm more used to it now and it's her hair and she can do what she wants.  I'm having the opposite problem I don't like my hair cut and everyone loves it or they are LYING!!! So be truthful to your friends if they have bad hair, but not TOO truthful!

Happy Holidays all!

Just kidding

Here's her beautiful hair!

Ballons in a blanket or something like that?

As many people are getting ready for Christmas and saving to spend money and buy presents I like to think this is as the BEGINNING.  The BEGINNING of Jesus' life yes and also the BEGINNING OF wedding season, soon after the new year begins the showers, bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners and WEDDINGS are here sooner than you realize.  Although I said this blog isn't about weddings and babies but other things in life.  It seems my life is about my friends weddings, who is engaged, when are their parties when are there weddings, where are we staying, who are we taking, are we getting our hair done, our make-up done, etc.

So things started a little early this year with two Christmas engagement parties.  Which is great for me because I'm kinda a scrooge and could do without all this Christmas stuff, but am excited about the parties.  I tell myself every year I'm not going to get so involved, I'm not going to throw a party/shower etc and every year it comes that time to plan and something inside me screams ME ME ME ME please let ME ME ME plan something for you.  I know how bad I stress out, how pissed I get at people that don't want to help and how I wish I was just at home getting ready for the party like everyone else, but yet I always volunteer.  It was a great party, had a great time.  But the days events leading up might not seem so.  We were supposed to get in at 2pm to decorate for a 7pm party, got a call we can't get in until 3, supposed to meet the girls at 2, can't meet til 230 (no biggie because we can't get in til 3 now).  So I decided to go get Balloons early, go to a store other than my usual because it's closer.   In this store if you weigh more that 100 lbs you would have trouble fitting down the isles in this store, plus there were lots of over 100's in there.  I was only looking for BALLOONS, how hard could that be.  Go to the party isle... NOPE.  Go to decoration isle...NOPE.  excuse me excuse excuse me as I pass not 100lb people with my not 100lb butt.  Still no BALLOONS.  Finally to the register where now all the people in the store are standing and one check out.  I just NEED GOLD and SILVER BALLOONS... finally make my way to the front, only person in the store that is white besides me is the cashier.  I ask her do you have gold and silver balloons, NOPE, we just have a mixed pack with all different colors, does that pack have gold and silver in it, not sure.... THANKS, BUT NO THANKS.   So I wiggle my not 100lb butt out of there, head to the store next door, where the lady was so nice, filled up all my balloons for 99 cents each, tied them with coordinating ribbon and bagged them for me.  THANK YOU KROGER LADY ....and you SUCK DOLLAR TREE.
So I made it home, we decorated, came home got ready. Burned not one but two batches of pigs in a blanket (and if you have to ask what that is like the yankee in my office, you don't deserve to know), finally an edible batch...SCORE.  Hair is doing good, THANK GOD, make-up good, dress BORROWED (SCORE, money saver) shoes great!
Party is an awesome time, drinks, food and fun times with friends.  And the saga continues next weekend with another engagement party, hopefully not nearly as stressful.
So Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Wedding Season!!

Making Moves

This day in age ladies we've got to MAKE MOVES.  Whether it's making a move on a guy, movin' up at work or movin' our butts to the gym.  I'm convinced it is all about the moves.
So there's a hottie, for some reason guys these days think since you are independent and can provide for yourself you would also like to ask guys out...NOPE!  But maybe if you don't want to be single forever we should invest in making some moves.  Maybe we can ask for digits, we can shoot a text (not 20 unanswered) or suggest coffee/drinks.  These are little moves that women these days just need to get used to.  I know it sucks ladies, where is that prince charming that rides up on his white horse or range rover, ask for directions, your phone number and your hand in marriage in one convo..ahhhhhh.  Sounds perfect to me.

Yeah at work gotta make some moves, have to bust your butt to show you really want the job and you are willing to work hard.  Because guess what there is someone else waiting in line for that job that has been sitting at home on unemployment and ready to show how hard they can work.  So leave the drama with yo mama and move your little butt up that corporate ladder.

NOW the really hard one, moving your BUTT, literally getting your ass in shape.  Ladies guys don't like a lazy slob (me these days) they want a hottie on their arm.  So get your butt moving at the gym, around the neighborhood, to Wii dance or any other cardio activity and keep that butt cute enough for the fellas check out.
So get out there and MAKE MOVES!!!!

Planksgiving

Anyone ever fell like walking the plank with they have to be around their family for too long.  PLANKSGIVING!!!  Just kidding I love my family and love being around them.  I was watching this show where the town had an old folk tale of how a hurricane washed away the town and the people had no crops/food or anything for Thanksgiving.  Some pirates came to shore and shared their riches with the townspeople and since they had a tradition every year PLANKSGIVING.  Everyone dresses up in pirate gear, they gather at the town commons and have a big meal all together.  It looked like so much fun.  So I was wondering if there are other town or family traditions out there.  With my family, we go to my Nannie's (dad's mom) for lunch every year since I was born.  Eats the traditionals, turkey, stuffing etc.  It's great to always sit around her antique table with all the old family photos, hand made napkins and table clothes.  Real silver that was polished, eating off china and always interesting fruit filled center piece, with the Pilgrims peeking in!  Then head to Mt Olive, for dinner with Grandma and Papa (mom's parents) with aunts, uncles and cousin and a new edition Evie (will be 3 in Jan).  She is the pure entertainment.  See on both sides the youngest grandchild is 24 years old and the great grandchild is 3yrs old.  So we basically sit around for hours just watching that child.  It's so great, because we don't get to see her that much.  We always have for dinner venison(deer meat) that my granddad usually killed and grilled for us, chicken salad, veggies, ham biscuits and pickles.  It would not be the same if anything changed.  But this year for lunch the next day we went to WILBUR'S BBQ...yummmmmmmmm.  It is great BBQ, we went family style with our order and it was well worth it.  So 3 huge meals, with huge family and huge FUN!!
So hope you had more of a THANKSGIVING, than a PLANKSGIVING and learn to enjoy time with family, because they won't always be there.  And remember some people don't have any family to spend time with, SO ENJOY that you do!
Happy Holidays!

Old enough to know better, too young to care!

Anyone every heard the song by Blake Shelton "Some Beach"..... some beach somewhere.  Yeah right now that is where I wish I was.  Actually a lot of times I wish I was there.
So yesterday was a great football game, CLEMSON vs NCSU, #7 CLEMSON got beat by unranked NCSU... I had a blast, one of the best games I have been to.  My friend who had just moved was home unpacking and decorating and I got to sit with her husband, father and friends in the game.  They are great seats and I have always loved when I've gotten to sit with them in past.  Her little 3rd grade cousin was there and sitting in front of me and we kept high five-ing on all the good plays.  It was me and "the guys" and just had a blast watching the game, sitting with people who wanted to watch the game and were excited about the game.  Tailgating was great, went with 5 friends had a great spread of food, drinks, without fail jello shots showed up too!  And I have a red finger this am to prove that I did partake.
But then someone mentioned going out...out out, like out on the town, out to bars, shots, drinks and dancing.  Of course I was up for it, the JELLO SHOTS made me do it.  We had a blast, dancing bar hopping, singing, life chats, sitting in a planter, drunk texting..etc. You know how this goes.  This is where the too old to know better too young to care comes in.  Ok I'm too old to go drinking all day at football game, rally through and stay out til 1am.  I'm too old to take several jello shots at the football game. I'm too old to say 'Yes sir" when friends dad says take a swig of this, too old to say 'yes sir' twice to swigging moonshine at football game.  Too old to take shots at the bar, too old to go bar hopping, too old to be sitting in a planter at 1am waiting for a cab, too old to sleep in.  I'm too young to care about how ALL OF THE ABOVE MAKES ME FEEL IN THE AM!!!! aggggggg.  So still try and act like I'm so young I can do all of the above and still function on Sunday. I don't wanna be old and go home after the game and sleep, I still wanna be young and go out with my friends and get crazy sometimes.
See I think family and kids keeps you from doing all this, so please someone give me some family and kids and keep this old lady under CONTROL!!!!

I need to be benched, NOT MVP
